United States, Canada, Mexico announce joint avian conservation assessment
The United States, Canada and Mexico, on behalf of the group Partners in Flight, announced the release of the first comprehensive conservation assessment of bird species in North America in a report that lays out priorities for bird conservation.

slate of field trips, meetings and species counts. All are welcome
to participate. If anyone (or any group) would like to help with the provision of coffee and cookies, please let a member of the BSG Council know.

22/23, and Milk River Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park May 29/30.
These are joint events with Edmonton Nature Club. More information

News, but the coordinator, Bob Parsons, advises people who
wish to camp at Tillebrook Provincial Park to contact him regarding
campsite reservations at 1-780-488-1344 (2 powered and 5 tenting
sites are currently available). For maps, itineraries, contacts
and more details see
the pamphlet.
Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s NestWatch project
is underway for 2010. NestWatch welcomes data for all North American
birds. Participants submit data about which kinds of birds are
nesting, the number of eggs laid, dates eggs were laid, and the
numbers of chicks hatched and fledged. Several NestCams are
online for viewing on the Cornell website.
Interested in monitoring your favorite wetland area for birds? By volunteering as little as 12 hours a year you can help contribute valuable information to the Bird Studies Canada's Prairie and Parkland Marsh Monitoring Program. The race is on, lets go birding! 2010 Birds Calgary Competition started January 1st! Make sure you are entered. See the registration page and browse the Competition website while you are at it.

The new webmaster for the Bird Study Group is Carole Hachey. Carole has been a member of Nature Calgary for several years and is also a volunteer with the Calgary Bird Banding Society.

Field trip data will no longer be added to the BSG web. The new field trips are on the Nature Calgary web at www.naturecalgary.com/field_trips.html.
